In this project, I designed a booklet exploring how green spaces support immigrant and refugee communities. Created in collaboration with CUP and HSCJ students, it combines research and interviews to highlight the social and emotional benefits of accessible green spaces. Inspired by New York City’s contrast between dense urban life and nature, the design overlays city and greenery imagery to emphasize green spaces as vital sanctuaries within the city.

Green Space For Everyone

“At the beginning of this project, I approached green space as a visual and environmental topic. As the process unfolded, it became a human and social question.”

“This shift forced me to reconsider my role as a designer—not as a narrator, but as a listener.”

“This project helped me realize that green spaces are not only environmental resources, but also social infrastructures that support belonging, healing, and everyday resilience for immigrant and refugee communities. Through research and design, I learned how visual storytelling can bridge policy, lived experience, and public awareness in a clear and human way.“
