GOOD OR GONE

GOOD OR GONE

Born from everyday kitchen confusion, FreshFlow rethinks how people manage their food. To address forgotten produce and missed expiration dates, I designed a dual-personality system that responds to user behavior. By shifting between a gentle “good” mode and a stricter “evil” mode, FreshFlow turns food management into a more intuitive and engaging daily habit.

Good or Gone uses a behavior-driven system to encourage food management. When users stay on track, the app remains supportive and calm, but when tasks pile up, it switches to an “evil” mode to prompt action.

In the good version, the interface feels calm and supportive, focusing on tasks and expiring ingredients. In the evil version, switches to a strict and punitive mode, fostering feelings of guilt and urgency in users.

”I've found that when interfaces possess emotion, users naturally form emotional connections with them. And that's precisely where behavioral change begins. Therefore, reminder apps shouldn't merely be simple reminders: it needs a touch of humanity.“

Help users generate recipes to use up leftovers and view food information.

A playful space that celebrates good habits and shared progress

Waste Board exposes the community’s worst performers with unapologetic clarity.

“When designing the good version, I know that people who perform well need encouragement. I want it to gradually help users build habits through encouragement. When creating “Evil Version,” I deliberately retained its sharp edge, for sometimes it's not gentleness that truly propels us forward.“”

The good version focuses on clear categories and remaining days, while the evil version highlights freshness risks with alerts to prompt action.

“The switch between good and evil, I believe, is a mirror reflection that allows users to see their own state clearly.”

Research

KitchenPal
KitchenPal combines pantry tracking with recipe suggestions, offering quick item entry through barcode scanning. It works well for individual home cooks but is less effective for shared households due to limited multi-user syncing.

NoWaste
NoWaste is a shared food inventory app that tracks items across the fridge, freezer, and pantry. It emphasizes real-time syncing and visualizes waste reduction and environmental impact.

Most software solutions offer robust features for refrigerator inventory management and recipe planning. However, they still fall short in areas such as multi-user collaboration, fostering environmental awareness, and diversifying software formats.

Our App

Distinct Differentiators
Our app goes beyond inventory tracking by actively guiding users toward better food and storage habits through smart reminders and behavioral incentives.

Addressing Competitor Gaps
We boost engagement with gamified elements like daily challenges and leaderboards, creating a more motivating and self-driven experience.

“Designing both the good and evil versions made me realize how much tone affects the way people respond. Users don’t just react to information, they react to the feeling behind it, whether it’s gentle encouragement or a sharper reminder. "
